I had an itch to pick blueberries this year - probably mostly for the end result of being able to have frozen blueberries on my cereal in December after berry season is long since finished. I have fond memories of picking strawberries with my mom in the summer when I was little. I asked her to re-live the memory last Friday at "Spencer's U-Pick Orchard" (Noblesville).
We had a great time catching up on life and the rest of her trip in Boulder. The day was cool and the blueberries were plentiful. Our end result was about 7 pounds-worth of sweet blues for pancakes, cobblers, and topping my cereal in December.
When I got home, I washed them and started storing them in the freezer. Though I promised never to buy tupperware again after purging hundreds of cheap gladware which either had no lid or had a lid that did not fit, I broke down and got some - for the sake of the blueberries...and well, cereal in December... PLUS, they have interlocking lids so that I will not lose them.

Where have you been all my life, baby?
I highly recommend Spencer's as the cure to the common itch for homespun pickin' in the berry patch.

Glad you had a good time, berry pickin' sounds like fun! I plan on picking some up at the farmer's market on sat. Also, congrats on entering the wonderful world of interlocking lids!
Chuck likes to eat them while he is picking them in the woods. Your way sound a lot safer. Zip-Lock freezer bags also work well, just be sure to get all the air out.Nothing beats spending time with mom...of course that's from a mom's point of view, right Meghan?
i want blueberries from Indiana. there are few things that i miss about Indiana besides my family, but berry patches are definitely one of them.
