Making the Move

I am writing from Kansas City Int'l Airport. In order to reach the restaurant area, I had to make the sacrifice of going through security again. My cheeseburger was worth it and any hard feelings were forgiven upon discovery of their complimentary wireless internet. Good move, KCI. I am eagerly anticipating my second and final leg to Denver to see The Razavi's, namely Isaiah James.

Yesterday, my aunt, uncle, cousin, and awesome friends helped Kristen (my cousin) and I move to Broadripple. My little sister, Lauren, will be joining us in a week to complete our "family reunion" abode. I am looking forward to living with these great gals that love life, love Jesus, and share my blood.

Pondering the move to B'Ripple from The Park Apartments, I started to formulate a list of things that I am going to miss and things that I will not so much miss about this place.

Things I am going to miss about the Park:

1. The good company of my old roomie, Jeff, who had to haul off and get married, as well as proximity to my Traders Point friends (who's up for freezie cokes?)

2. The second story balcony for studying (and sleeping)

3. The neatly-organized variety of recycling bins...seriously

4. Eagle Creek Park

5. Diana - even though she left halfway through my "Park Apartments" experience, I will miss my favorite leasing agent.

Things that I am not going to miss about the Park
:

1. All of my dropped calls...56th & College does not exist for Sprint

2. Concern about whether I am being too loud for the downstairs neighbors

3. Our hyperactive ice machine

4. Pulling onto 56th St at 7:30 AM in the middle of winter (though College and Meridian may not be much better)

5. More dropped calls...

I appreciate change, though there are certainly adjustments. I feel like this transition will be good for me as I enter a new chapter of life. I am looking forward to being challenged by the Broadripple community in living well, focusing on health and fitness, intelligent faith, and fellowship. Already life seems to take on a different pace in this community, one that might help me slow down to appreciate the environment and my neighbors. My cousin said that this appeared to be a community that "has front porches and actually uses them". We will aspire to be "front-porch people" this year, tasting the goodness of the life around us.

You are welcome anytime at 6349 Broadway.

You? Too loud for the neighbors? You must jest. :)

We lived in Broadripple for four years, had awesome neighbors and made many new friends. We too were front porch people (decks too). We walked or biked everywhere. Corner Wine Bar is great for summer dining and people watching and Chelsea's is the best place to pick up a edgy card or funky gift. Totally soak up life in Broadripple, you will love it!

red wine and ryan adams pair well with being a front porch person. my front porch is my favorite place in the summer and it only gets better with ryan adams singing some sad tunes and a glass of red wine.
