2009 is nearly over which sends a wave of reflection, as well as hope for a new year. From a medical elective in Kenya to graduating from med school and starting residency to traveling across the country via Rte 66 to watching my little sister get married and having several visits with my CO family, it has been such a big year. Papa's medical scare, Dad's back surgery, and the humbling experience of being a new medical resident in a new city presented some challenges in 2009. I am grateful for the blessings I have in my awesome friends and incredible family. These relationships grow sweeter.
Colossians 3 expresses my hopes for 2010; may it be a benediction for you and I as we enter 2010:
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body, you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the father through him."
Colossians 3:12-17 [NIV]
Amen. So be it.
Thank you for a rich year, friends. God bless you in 2010.
