This past Saturday was the culmination of a dream that began with a friend over cookies at Paradise Bakery one April afternoon. Stephanie Garwood and I share summer birthdays and decided to have a joint birthday party between our actual birthdays. Often closet fans of the frivolous and corny, I don't think any of our closest friends were surprised when we decided to throw a "High School Musical"-themed party.
Steph and I have seen this production from its inception as a TV movie to a couple of its stage productions, even considering the possibility of attending a riverfront "floating amphitheatre" production of "High School Musical" (HSM) near Louisville. Clearly, we are truest of true fans (though slightly humbled by the fact that we LOST in an "us vs. them" HSM trivia game on the night of our party - only slightly controversial.
The night turned out to be a wild success with a kebab dinner

We cleaned up with awesome cards, Starbucks money, and other fun presents, like my 5-ft cardboard cut-out of Gabriella.

We figured we are probably the oldest "kids" EVER to have an HSM-themed birthday party. We figure the theme was problaby sparked out of a psychological regression to our childhood to help cope with the stresses and responsibilities of our work and school. Hey, whatever it takes to stay healthy and sane! Thanks to Steph and our friends for such a fun night and sweet birthday! Be sure to check out Steph's blog if you have not already for more stories and pictures from the evening.

Thanks for being the visionary for our fun party!
Oh, and I'm going to the riverfront production of HSM in Jeffersonville this weekend. Now I'll be one ahead of you! :)
