Flying Standby

So yesterday was an adventure as I made my first attempt at flying standby. I was scheduled for an 8 pm flight to Denver and managed to hop onto a 3:30 pm flight to the mile-high city (which was proven by Frontier's fancy elevation meter on my TV panel in the plane - 5280 ft).

After my neuro exam, I drove swiftly to Indy Int'l, checked in (3 and 1/2 hours before the flight to be at the top of the standby list), and began the grueling wait (which involved books and Christmas cards). Checking into the airport, I knew there were 3 seats left, so I played the odds that some Frontier VIP with more skymiles than I would not pursue this flight. And success!

Now I feel more cultured in the art of flying and definitely recommend trying standby if the need arises to the flexible, adventuresome traveler.

I am currently in Boulder, loving on the nephew (pictures to follow).
