Psalm 62:8
We have been a celebrating a lot around here recently. On May 9, I graduated from medical school. On the Friday before graduation, we had a nice banquet to honor the graduates and our professors/staff. We had a beautiful dinner; I especially enjoyed the great company at my table of eight: my friend Becky and her boyfriend, Kyle, Meghan and Jeff with Meg's mom and my parents.

The next morning, we graduates participated in the official ceremony. Thanks to Jeff's great photographic skills, I have some photos of being "hooded." Here Dean Leapman is "hooding" me.

I so appreciated being with my family and friends on this special day. It was very exciting to walk across the stage and see the fruit of four years of labor. Dr. Bankston, the dean of IU-Northwest in Gary, where I spent the first half of my medical school career, was at the base of the stage stairs to congratulate his students.

There were many photos! I think our mouths were pretty sore by the end of the day from smiling.

Following the graduation ceremony, we had a party at Eagle Creek Park on Indianapolis' northwest side. The celebration continued with hot dogs & hamburgers, cornhole, and lots of cake. We got a good laugh out of the message on one of the cakes. Who is the Costco proofreader, anyways?

The best part of the day was visiting with the family and friends that were able to come to the party - many of whom I had not seen in a couple of years! My Uncle Max traveled the furthest from D.C. to be here for graduation and Mothers' Day! What a fun surprise!
