THE MATCH

On March 19, my future was sealed! I found out that I matched at University of Louisville's Pediatric Residency Program. I am excited to get to train at this institution. I ranked it highly because of its "small feel" despite its larger size, personalized approach to its residents, widespread opportunities, and good reputation in peds. It will be nice to be close to my family and friends in Indy and yet get a different perspective on medicine for the next three years.

Match Day was quite an event! Our entire class gathered in a ballroom at the new student center on IUPUI's campus. At 12 noon, Dennis Deal, Director of Medical Student Records, brought a basket of sealed envelopes containing match information for our class. Envelopes were selected at random and one-by-one, each student found out where they had matched. Medical students all over the nation found out their match information at the same time.

My classmates and friends from church, Meghan Miller and Becky Bowman, and I were blessed by our friends, who made t-shirts with our photos on them. The theme of our Match Day was "superheroes with mustaches." Therefore, the caption on the shirts read, "Our Heroes".

Though we did not wear mustaches, we had some superhero get-up. Meghan did the best with her silver dress and cape.

Meghan made a sweet video of match day here.

Here are some more photos from our exciting day:

Louisville is a great town- you'll love it! :) We have family there if you ever need someone to give you the inside scoop on good places to go and eat. :)
