I apologize for the silence over the past two weeks. My time in Eldoret finished well with two final weeks on the internal medicine ward, a morning report on "pellagra" with a pharmacy student and another medical student, and my dad's visit. My dad arrived in Eldoret on the 18th, and we were able to tour Eldoret and MTRH, followed by a trip to the famous Masaai Mara and Mombasa coast. We saw many beautiful animals on our safari in the Mara and enjoyed white sandy beaches on the coast. Yesterday, we visited with missionaries from the Mission of Hope and CMF Partnership with whom our church will be partnering with in the Mathare slum of Nairobi. We were able to visit one of the main schools/centres, as well as some of the microenterprise programs and a clinic in Mathare. We were even privileged to visit a patient's home and hear about how her life has changed since working with Hope/CMF. This was a highlight of the day. Finally, we had dinner with some of our dear friends, the Gikori's, at their home in Nairobi. It was awesome to spend some time with them over beef and chapatis on their side of the ocean. Cyrus and Susan and their daughters, Charlene and Shauna spent a year interning with Grace Community Church in Westfield in 2005. We became good friends during this time. We could not believe how much the girls had grown. Shauna was still playing with the barbies that my mom passed on to them when they visited our home (mostly because she knew I would shave their heads if they stayed in our house).
Today we are finishing our time in Kenya with a final day in Nairobi before we head back to the States. I will fill you all in with photos and more stories when I return to Indiana. Thank you for following this journey with me - for your messages, comments, and prayers. Mungu kadu bariki (God bless you) and see you back home!

Have a great trip back! Can't wait to read more as you process and decompress all you have been exposed to over there. I'm sure your life will be different because of this trip!
It will be interesting to hear your reflections. Glad to have you back, too cold for ice cream, how about a nice bowl of soup?
